Process; the way I’ve found to work.
WHAT IS DESIGN?
I believe design is a functional process and creativity comes from working within that constraint–practical considerations are at the root of all successful design solutions. Great design is both enduring, and flexible. It helps to maintain the spirit of an organization, while adapting to the dynamic nature of business, and the flow of time.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Each organization, company, and situation is unique. Because of this, I start with unbounded research which builds a position, to align stakeholders on complex, or simple decisions. This position is articulated into a visual framework, and then a discreet solution. Solutions range from a single logotype, a design system, a typeface, one-off collateral items, or something more abstract, like a film screening series.
WHY IS IT RELEVANT?
One of my clients, a technology company founder who was creating a blockchain, indicated that the blockchain they were building would continue to exist and function well beyond their tenure on this earth–this relevance, permanence, and durability is what I strive for in my work.
